God the Father, Unbegotten; God the Son, Onlybegotten; and God the Holy Spirit from the Father Proceeding: Celtic Orthodox Christian News |
“The people that walked in darkness, have seen a great light: to them
that dwelt in the region of
the shadow of death, light is risen.” Isaiah 9:2
Two thousand years ago something astounding was done for us. The
most high God, God the
Son, who is as eternal as the Father, upon whose face no man can look
and live, was born as
one of us so that we might be healed.
Two thousand years ago, the Angel came to Mary and announced that the
Son of God was to be
born by her: Christ's Godhead with His humanity came among the people.
Mary knew great
moment of our Salvation began, but the world did not know it.
Two thousand years ago, Mary came to visit Elizabeth, her cousin and
wife of the High Priest of
Israel, the unborn Saint John the Forerunner: acting as the last Prophet
of the Old Testament, leapt
in his mother's womb at the presence of the unborn Christ the Savior.
Saint John knew the
moment of Salvation had come, but the world did not know it.
Two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ was born and laid in the
manger. Shepherds and kings
came and worshiped Him. They knew that Salvation had come
among us, but the world did not
know it.
We know Christ came among us through the teaching of Christ’s Apostles
and Disciples. The
world has been told that God the Son who holds the universe in His
fist was held by a manger.
The world has been told that He accepted our human frailty as His own
and healed it by union
with His Divinity.
We live in a world that celebrates the second millennium but has
turned its back upon Christ
Whose birth is the reason for the celebration. The worl has been told
so there is no excuse for ignorance of Christ. We live in an world
that is darkened by willful ignorance, but we have seen the light of Christ
and the 2000 years of Salvation He has given to the world.
We were Baptized in the hope of rising again with Him in the age to come
when doubt and willful ignorance is swept away. When Christ, Whose
first coming was in obscurity, comes in Glory that is undeniable.
May this two-thousandth Feast of the Nativity of God the Son in the
Flesh: Jesus Christ be an
assurance of God’s love and bring the Blessing of renewed hope
to you.
May Christ's Peace be ever with you.
