Irony

On July 10, 2007  it was reported that the Roman Catholic church proclaimed that a church  which completely adheres to the Faith and has Apostolic Succession,  IS DEFECTIVE if its hierarchs  do not recognize the leadership of the Roman Pope.

This has caused an outcry from churches that are related to the Patriarchate of Constantinople with cries of "heresy" and the like.  What is ironic is that the very same Patriarchate of Constantinople and its allies preach  the identical heresy: that only churches who recognize the Patriarch of Constantinople as the leading AUTHORITY in the Church are valid churches.

I have a question for the followers of Constantinople: Are your claims hypocrisy  or heresy?  To those of us who still follow the original definition of Orthodoxy (Right Faith, Right Succession, Right Sacraments), the outcry over Rome's  statement is certainly irony. However we would like to understand what makes their statement more heretical than the Papal claims of the  Patriarchs of Constantinople since  the heretic Meletios IV?
